Estelle is Welcomed in Jamrock

Queen of quirk, Estelle, graces the cover of the latest issue of JAMROCK magazine. I first heard of this mag a couple of years ago but have yet to see it here in the UK. From what I can deciper it's a lifestyle mag that is similar to Vibe magazine, but focuses on issues of interest to Caribbean Americans. Nice concept. And isn't this a great look for Ms Swaray? Loving the sophisticated jazzy chaunteuse vibe. 

They Call Me Grace...That's Not My Name

Gosh, what an absolute snooze-fest last night's BRITS Awards was. With the exception of Take That and dare I say it - Girls Aloud, the show was totally lacklustre in my opinion. I was really looking forward to Estelle's duet with the Ting Tings, as I love both artists'. But for me, the pairing just didn't work. I don't know if it was lack of rehearsal time, but there was zero onstage chemistry and musically their respective sounds clashed big time.

Ms Swaray definitely channelled her inner Grace Jones last night. I know a lot of people aren't feeling her futuristic get up, but I applaud anyone who is willing to be a bit daring, and take a few style risks. In case you missed it, check out the performance below. 

Estelle begs America: Pretty Please (Love Me)

On September 12th Estelle releases the forth single from her Mercury award nominated album 'Shine'. 'Pretty Please (Love Me)' is a sixties inspired ditty produced by none other than Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley fame. Check out my girl doing her thing in the video promo. The swinging sixties homage has also been captured in the video via the styling (loving the lime green top and  cream pants), as well as the Motown-esq recording studio set up. Rumour has it that the album isn't doing as well in the US as it is in Europe, which is quite surprising considering the amount of publicity the West Londoner is receiving across the pond . Now come on guys, support the cause. 

Estelle Continues to Shine

Album 'Shine' up for a Mercury Prize... So well deserved, let's hope she wins.
